browser/xyplot scaling fixes for AIX, LINUX, ALPHA/OSF and SGI

Thanks for taking the time writing the demo program.
It triggered two problems not easily spotted
(for example, if you generated 20 lines of text
instead of 16, the browser slider would show up).

Anyhow, I think the problem is serious enough (semi show stoppers),
I've updated AIX 4.x (your platform, if I remember correctly),
Dec/Alpha, Linux/i386 ELF and a.out, SunOS, SGI6.2R10K and SGI-6.2n32.
This update also includes xyplot scaling fixes and some
other misc. fixes. The update should be binary
compatible with 0.86 (-xfversion now shows 0.86.0)

Other platforms will be updated shortly.
