... meaning that the above is more or less completely useless to me
and probably quite a few others.

I'm not flaming the poster, since I'm sure his intentions were good,
but making a humble request: please, if you feel compelled to attach
binary data of some sort, use a common format, like `uuencode' or,
better yet, post it to an FTP site.
