I just discovered that fdesign core dumps in -convert mode if it is
run on an SGI if it is run remotely from a Sun -- that is, if I rlogin
from my Sun 4/370 console (running X11R5 and SunOS 4.1.x) to an SGI
5.3 system and try to run fdesign in -convert mode, I get a core dump
as a reward for my efforts:
proteus:spl> fdesign -compensate -I form_defs.h -convert form
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
I suspect there's something bogus in its dealings with the X server
(yes, it needs to make a connection to the X server for some reason,
even if it doesn't pop any windows).
