PGPlot. The two problems: 1. it's Fortran with a C wrapper.
2. It supports only the Hershey fonts (better than nothing).
Again, I hope to have my package available soon.
It's much smaller than PGPlot, C, supports all of
the Adobe fonts, and understands the most used
PGPlot calls.
