As an x newbie, haivng spent most of my professional career in embedded
systems, I have a question. How is the best way to do a meter type
movement in xforms, or X for that matter. You know like the audio level
meters on mixers and, in my case, a S-meter on an amateur radio
transceiver.

I currently have many controls for it in place like the frequency dial,
pixmaps for LED readout with hidden buttons for freq change, and radio
buttons grouped for modes, vfo's, etc. I would like to put an S-meter on
it also, but don't really know the best route.

Do I use a pixmap and use xlib to draw the needle completley redrawing
the meter pixmap every time it is updated? Sounds terribly slow.

Anybody with suggestions, sample code, etc?

Thanks in advance..
