This isn't really an XForms related question but the answer is that GL
and OpenGL/Mesa *aren't* the same thing. GL is the old SGI graphics
library and OpenGL is their new library interface. The device.h
header file was for the old GL.

There are a few GL emulators in various levels of compliance -- Ygl
and vogl come to mind -- but my experience with porting to them met
wih somewhat mixed success, to say the least.
