That's it: gremlins.
So today I built what was supposed to be a bullet-proof example of the
purported memory bug in version 0.88.1 that I've been whining about
lately, and guess what: the checkbutton label worked just fine.
I re-ran my application, and the checkbutton label bug is still
there. I scratched my head for a while, then decided to re-install
version 0.88.1. Now my application works. I don't get it, but I guess
I should be happy that the problem is fixed.
I think I'll have a beer with lunch today.
