Hm. Works for me:
alex:spl> uname -a
SunOS alex 4.1.4 1 sun4
alex:spl> gcc -o pup pup.c /usr/local/lib/libforms.a -lXpm -lX11 -lm
alex:spl> ldd pup
-lX11.4 => /usr/lib/libX11.so.4.30
-lc.1 => /usr/lib/libc.so.1.9
-ldl.1 => /usr/lib/libdl.so.1.0
alex:spl> ./pup
What compiler are you running? I'm running gcc version 2.8.0.
Are you certain that libforms.a is the right version of the library?
What version of X?
