Jean-Marc> All in all, I suspect that this is a bug in gcc 2.7.2. If it rings a
Jean-Marc> bell for somebody, I'd be glad to hear about a workaround.
There are a number of bugs in gcc-2.7.2, and a number of compelling
reasons to upgrade to either gcc-2.8.1 or egcs-1.0.3. Here are some of
the attractions of egcs-1.0.3:
egcs-1.0.3 is based on an August 2, 1997 snapshot of the gcc-2.8
development sources; it contains nearly all of the new features found
in gcc-2.8.
egcs also contains many improvements and features not found in gcc-2.7
or gcc-2.8.
. Integrated C++ runtime libraries, including support for most major GNU/Linux systems!
. The integrated libstdc++ library includes a verbatim copy of
SGI's STL release instead of a modified copy.
. Integrated GNU Fortran compiler
. New instruction scheduler
. New alias analysis code
Compared to the amount of time you've already spent debugging your
xforms problem, installation of gcc (either version) will be a snap:
./configure
make bootstrap
make install
(BTW: X11R5 is a dinosaur also).
