I have been unable to get xforms to properly handle the <compose> key
in Sparc-Solaris-8. The <compose> key works fine with non
xforms-based programs, like xemacs and xterms, but with both the
binary distribution of xforms-0.89.6 and the open-source xforms-0.9999
libraries and demos, the <compose> key does not insert an accented
character (à) or other symbols (£).
With LyX-1.2.0, on which the <compose> key works with the
xforms-0.89.6 libraries with Linux, it fails with Sparc-Solaris-8. (I
am able to use the <compose> key with xforms-0.88.1 and Lyx, because
Lyx includes code to handle the <compose> key with those earlier
versions of xforms.) I'd like to be able to use xforms-0.89.6 instead
because of the graphics handling functions available.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has gotten the <compose> key to
work with the xforms-0.89.6 libraries under Sparc-Solaris-8. Thanks,
