Not being a real computer 'jock', I was under the impression the the server's
link to the outside world is the window manager wich 'manages' the minute-by-
minute affairs of the desktop - so much so that I often use
them interchangeably. I guess the confusion for me goes back to the non-server
based Sun systems (SunView) where the kernel did most things. Thanks for the
clarification...(gotta be careful about what you say on the air nowadays!)
As for my response to screen falshing issue, it was right on the money
-- except for the 'wm' bit, that is.

Show off? Hardly. Have I mentioned that the darn thing is actually fully
loaded with goodies? Like a 64-bit UltraSparc, Creator (tm) graphics
accelerator, 100 Mbits/sec fast ethernet (compatible witn 10),16 Gigs of hard
drive, internal CD+floppy, 14-Gbyte 8mm desktop DAT tape drive, and a second
processor is on the way. It is *not* BSD-ish, either. It is a gem in the
finest of SVR4 traditions. No wonder SGI is on the run (I'll get heat for
that one.) Can't wait for the 64-bit Solaris to come out...Then you won't hear
the end of it. The show not yet begun.

By the way *spl*, you may want to checkout Solaris 2.x (with Common Desktop
Environment (CDE).) You'll kiss your SunOs-4.1.4 good-bye for good.

Gotta go.
