What is the command line being executed? This is often helpful in
diagnosing problems.
Without more information I can take a wild guess and say that maybe
you're linking with the wrong libforms.a. There is a curses based
forms library which exists on some systems for creating ASCII forms on
full screen terminals which you may be getting instead of the XForms
library.
But that's only a wild guess.
