I'm not running Linux here (SunOS, IRIX 5.3, and IRIX 6.2) and have
not seen the problem in 0.86 or 0.86.1 -- fselectors work fine for me.

Can you reduce the problem to a minimal piece of code?

If you create a program with just the XForms initialization and a call
to fl_show_fselector() do you get the same problem?

If you're using dynamic libraries, make sure that you've got the
libforms.a and libforms.so files matched up and, for that matter, the
forms.h file matches both of them. Under SunOS you can issue the
command `ldd' on an executable to get it's idea of what dynamic
libraries it is using.

Off hand I don't recall if there's a GNU binutils function which does
the same thing. Maybe some permutation of the `objdump' flags?
