I have noticed that the functioning of an active xyplot depends on the
boxtype. For instance, in the distributed xyplotactive demo just change the
active xyplot box type from FL_DOWN_BOX to FL_SHADOW_BOX and the
mouse interaction fails (more accurately it very occasionally gives a
seemingly random selection of a data point to be dragged).
Why should this be? I see no mention of this in the manual, although
there are some references to not using FL_NO_BOX with dynamic
objects and some hint that the problem is associated with
redrawing. But a shadow box?? Is there some more descriptive
explanantion to enlighten me on the mysteries of how objects and box
types might interact? Is there a list of known bad combinations of box
type and objects? If so how about giving fdesign the intelligence to at least
warn of dubious combinations being selected?
