This is really the philosophy in the plotting package "xvgr" or "xmgr"
by Paul Turner. The screen is considered not the primary recipient of
drawing requests, but as just another output device. The user selects
the device to which they wish to send their output, and once this is set,
the program interfaces to right device driver to generate an output. There
is one device driver interface to the program, and a whole bunch of
drivers for a number of graphics devices (e.g., the "screen", PostScript,
raster, HP pen plotter, etc...). I think this is *really* nice and have stolen
the idea.

I, however, agree with an earlier poster who was against adding such overhead
into Xforms. In fact, it does not belong in there. Each person can implement
something philosophically similar to what is in x*gr package, independently
of Xforms. I just shamelessly ripped of device drivers from "xvgr".
You can do the same...it's free. Vive la Liberte!
