You're quite right to be persistent. I had misread your post. Sorry about
that. The only reason not to do that is that it will mean that I'll have to
make sure that all the colors used in the form are in the canvas colormap,
thereby restricting the number of colors I can use. I may have to live
with that.

I'd still like to know, though, if this behavior is a bug in XForms. If
it is, then I can just stick to 24-bit TrueColor until it's fixed. I'd
rather not have to program a workaround like the one you suggest.
