XForms: personality clash: XForms and pthreads

To subscribers of the xforms list from Michael Scott <scott-ma@ee.uwa.edu.au> :

>From the mailing list archives:

"I am trying to bind XForms with a new kind of interpreter, related to
Perl, Python, Tcl etc. I am working on a Linux/i386 with version 0.86
of XForms.

When I link a program with a reference to a threads-library (-lpthread)
and run the program, it reports an error as follows:

XIO: fatal IO error 0 (Unknown error) on X server ":0.0"
after 112 requests (110 known processed) with 0 events remaining.

This is the case even when the goodies from the DEMOS directory is
linked and run as described (independent of whether -l... is put first
or last in the sequence of library references.)

It seems possible that XForms is dependent upon a particular
implementation of threads. This would possibly lead me to stop
further exploration of XForms."

I have the same problem when linking the linux pthread library.
I'm using xforms v0.88 and pthreads v0.7.

Does anyone have a solution?

Cheers,

Michael Scott.
