Dear All:
I am a new x forms user, and I am having problems installing xforms on Red
Hat 5.1.
I have downloaded bxform-088 archive , unzipped-untarred in /DOWNLOADS
directory.
Then I have done make , and this is what I get :
make [1] - ERROR (ignored) whenever the Makefile includes -lXpm
and -Ifd
and, of course, when I have done make install, this is what it did
:

cp fd2ps/fd2ps.1 /usr/man/man1; chmod 644 /usr/man/man1/fd2ps.1
I have installed xpm libraries (as shared ones, version 3.4, in a.out
format ), so I really do not need -lXpm
when I compile xforms. The only thing that bothers me that I might have
older versions of xpm libraries sitting on my machine, and that is what
causing xfoms not to compile.
When I did make install on xpm, this is what it did:
+ rm -f /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4
+ ln -s libXpm.so.4.7 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so.4
rm -f /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so
ln -s libXpm.so.4.7 /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.so
install -m 0444 -m 0644 libXpm.a /usr/X11R6/lib
ranlib /usr/X11R6/lib/libXpm.a
+ install -m 0444 -m 0444 xpm.h /usr/X11R6/include
install in lib done
make[1]: Leaving directory /DOWNLOADS/xpm-3.4g/lib'
installing in ./sxpm...
make[1]: Entering directory /DOWNLOADS/xpm-3.4g/sxpm'
install -c -s sxpm /usr/X11R6/bin/sxpm
install in sxpm done
make[1]: Leaving directory /DOWNLOADS/xpm-3.4g/sxpm'
I just want to run xforms demos, and then install lyx that requires xforms
and xpm .
And of course, when I configure lyx, at this point it complains that my
xforms are not installed properly.
