It is possible - I had trouble until I fixed this.

I moved /usr/i486-linux-libc5 to something else and then recompiled my apps.
It stopped xforms pulling it libc5. This should quickly prove one way or
another.

I have not get got to the bottom of the problem but libc.so.5 is clashing with
libc.so.6 (AKA gcc-libc). There is an HOWTO on the subject. There is also
a xforms for gcc-lib which I installed but it made no difference (I assume I
have made an error somewhere).
