This gives almost no information upon which to make anything more than
a wild guess.

Are you sure this is where the coredump occurs? What does the
debugger say in the traceback? Are you certain the file is a valid
XPM pixmap? If so, how? Does the file exist? Is it in the same
directory from which you are running the program? Is the object a
valid pixmap object? Are you sure? How did you verify this?

What operating system are you running? What version? What hardware?
What version of X? What version of XPM?

A little more information would be useful.
