I'm new to gui programming but I've been writing in C for 10+ years, which
probably makes me a jaded newbie... ;) and I want to write a text editor
using XForms for creating the forms. The problem is, I can't figure out how
to create and maintain the 'edit area' without delving into Xlib.

I've tried using a multi-line edit box but this creates all kinds of issues
with auto-wraparound, not to mention the slowdown as the file size
increases. Therefore, I envisage creating a canvas area & working on it using
Xlib.

Is there an easier way? :)

TIA

Hugo
