I'm using RedHat 5.1 with Afterstep as my window manager. My vidcard only will let me display 256 colors.
When I run the xforms demos, I get the following message:
"Failed to share colors. Using Private ColorMap."
And then the window gets the right colors when the mouse is on it, but the rest of the screen gets messed up. And if I take the mouse off of the window, the window gets messed up and the rest of the screen goes back to normal.
The fdesign program, however, tells me:
"Failed to share colors. Using substitutions."
And although some of the colors get a little off, it is a lot nicer than the demos.
How do I specify substituting colors instead of using a private color map?
