Yes, one might reasonably draw that inferrence. TC -- perhaps a
clarification would be helpful in the manual?

That would be nice but on 8-bit machines it would absolutely devour
the colormap.

Personally, I tend to use a borderwidth of -2, which removes the
button outline and makes the border smaller. That gives the form a
nice crisp feel. It could also be argued that one should not go nuts
with different object colors. I try to keep mine to a minimum (though
I usually don't succeed).

This is, of course, an aesthetic decision.
