I'm seeing the exact same behaviour - no
ConfigureNotify when the window size is decreased,
which is exactly when I'm having my drawing problems.
Nicolas's comment makes me wonder if we are at
fixlevel (in my case 6) where the glcanvas is buggy.
Incidentally, I have to expilictly include the file
glcanvas.c - this is not included in the lib.
