Actually, no, I haven't a clue. My guess is that your X installation
is horribly broken or that you're still not getting the right
preprocessor.
It does sound to me as if that "alternatives" stuff is still making
things go wonky but having never touched or even seen a Mandrake Linux
box I can't even begin to do more than speculate on what might be wrong.
