Me neither, but then again we won't know any better after we it is
merged into the tree whenever this is done. Sometimes we just have to
go on trust...

Given that Jeff's patch isn't yet here and that we believe it to be
harmless, let's wait until it is merged into the tree.
The only thing that I think isn't ready for the release of 1.1 proper
is this line in configure.ac
AC_SUBST(SO_VERSION, ["1:0:0"])
We should also address Lars' concerns about fdesign's output semantics
and decide what to do with Jason's patch.
