Oops, I totally forgot in my last reply: On Redhat 9.0, this is not reproducible and the application works as it should:

3:Visible  -- hide sub window 3
2:B        -- object changes to a cone
2:B        -- object remains a cone, does not disappear
2:C        -- object changes to a sphere
Exit       -- application exits

It also works correctly on OS X 10.3.3 and 10.3.4. We have obtained some Fedora Core 2 CDs so when I have more time I will see if the problem was fixed. Like I said, it seems very likely that it is a bug in Fedora Core 1 more than anything else.
