And, it turns out, neither did I. At least not quite.

As I mentioned in a subsequent mail, there is a limit to the number of
points one can stuff into the X buffer -- this, I believe, is a server
dependent limit. The manual page for XDrawLines() actually cautions
against exceeding this limit and now that I think about it, at one
time I was even aware of it, having written some low level Xlib code
that used that function to draw a histogram.

I understand entirely -- SIGGRAPH can befuddle the brain -- that's why
I've basically given up on it (that, and the Hollywood hype) and now
only go to smaller graphics conferences like the IEEE/ACM
Visualization series... :-)
