# To subscribers of the xforms list from Matt Post <manimal@bobo.newaygo.mi.us> :

i have written an xforms application and everything works fine when
running
it at the console. however, not everyone who needs to use it uses linux.
i have
found an application similar to pc anywhere which lets windows users run
x
applications on their windows machines (and vice versa - great program,
gpl
too). the server runs on my linux machine and the windows user starts up
the client
and connects to the display, such as :1, :2 (one can run as many as he
wants).
but when a user connects to the display and tries to run the program, it
instead
starts up on the console display. other applications, such as netscape,
xterm, and
gimp, run on the correct display, but not any xforms applications. i
have tried
setting the DISPLAY env variable to localhost:2 (or wherever the server
is running),
and get the following error:

bobo ~/c/program$ export DISPLAY=0:2
bobo ~/c/program$ ./program
In flvisual.c[217]: Can't find an appropriate visual
bobo ~/c/program$

Any idea why this happens? Sorry if this is not an xforms problem but
instead
a problem of the server.

By the way, for anyone who wants to try this out (it also allows windows
to windows
connections and unix to windows - good way to spy) the url is
www.orl.co.uk/vnc

thanks
