A million thanks! Before answering that I am using libc.so.5.0.9, I switched
to 5.4.46 (couldn't do that before replacing ldconfig ver. 1.7.0 with 1.9.9) and
everything works as it should.

Man, this libc crap is a real pain in the rear, it seams worse than what we had
to go through to switch from aout to ELF. I suppose I'll need to switch to
glibc but am afraid I'll break all types of other programs, on top of that, the
glibc switch doesn't look easy.
