Because your professor said to use it? :-)

Seriously, I've only looked at GTK in the context of GNU applications
which require it and have only a cursory knowledge of Qt, never having
used it, so perhaps others can chime in regarding the usability of the
other packages.

The main reason I continue to use XForms is the `fdesign' forms
designer tool. I haven't seen any other non-commercial package which
provides as nice an interface builder. Building a complicated XForms
app is quite simple inasmuch as all the fiddly interface bits are
automagically done for you by `fdesign'.

The second reason is the manual, which is one of the most complete and
lucidly written documents I've had the pleasure of using. (Stop
blushing, TC)
