    Sorry to be so long getting back on this -- we had an important review
    committee meeting here last week and, of course, the preparation for
    it took up all available time, and then some.

    Anyhow, I finally got around to testing using the above suggestion and
    I didn't have any problem -- everything worked as it should, meaning
    no segfaults or anything untoward.

    I hate to says "it works for me," but it works for me. :-/
