This sounds like an old bug/feature of xforms input boxes. As I recall its
related to the font size being too big for the input box. Often can happen
when transferring an application written on one system, or even using one X
display, to another due to variations in available fonts dpi etc.

Any way what happened I think was that forms saw it couldn't put the text in
fully, and so rather than clipping it didn't display anything at all!
Try enlarging the input boxes.
